Granite worktops are usually made from (nominally) 30mm thick material which gives the best finished result. 40mm thick tops can be formed by laminating two 20mm thick slabs, either with a flush or V-groove joint along the exposed edges.
Edge profiles on Marble when used for vanity tops are nominally 20mm in thickness. As with granite, a 40mm top can be formed by laminating two 20mm thick slabs together with either a flush or V-groove at the exposed edges.
